Lauriana here =) I have been accepted to go with Teen Missions to Malawi Africa, the “warm heart of Africa.” Of the 13 million citizens, 900,000 are living with HIV/AIDS and the life expectancy is only 43 years. Around 80% of the population survives on less than $1 a day. You’ve seen the pictures—children running around barefoot in the dirt, their feet cracked and calloused. Every day they put on the only outfit they own—the same shirt, ripped and worn. My team and I will travel to several AIDS Orphans Rescue Units and wash the feet of these orphans and put new socks and shoes on them. We will also be involved with evangelism ministry, sharing the Gospel through music, games, puppets, and personal testimonies. I am so incredibly thankful for this opportunity. I know it will be life changing and I couldn't have done it without the knowledge that I have so much support behind me. Thank you all for helping me raise the funds, and for praying for me every step of the way. I'm nervous, but I know that God is looking out for me and has something amazing planned for my life. While I am gone, please continue to pray for me and my team. That all of the traveling will be done in complete safety, that we will all stay healthy and grow spiritually, and that the missionary burden will not be to much to bear. Lastly, I ask that you will write me a few letters while I am gone. Although I will be with a strong team of 25 people who will become like a family to me, I will desperately need to hear from all of my loved ones back home.
